Nature and Biodiversity
Safeguarding biodiversity is an important part of our sustainability work. As a company operating in the textile and apparel industry, we recognize that our activities impact nature and ecosystems across different stages of the value chain. We seek to understand and manage these impacts as part of a holistic approach to sustainability.
Our approach to nature and biodiversity is based on identifying risks, preventing adverse impacts, and continuous improvement in cooperation with our partners. Work related to nature and biodiversity is developed step by step as part of our broader sustainability efforts and in close connection with our climate, materials, and circular economy work. We monitor changes in our operating environment and regulatory landscape and continue to strengthen our understanding of impacts on biodiversity as part of ongoing development work.
Identifying and Managing Nature‑Related Impacts
As part of the development work aligned with our sustainability strategy, we initiated a comprehensive assessment of nature‑related impacts and risks in 2025 to strengthen our understanding of nature dependencies, environmental pressures, and risks related to biodiversity and water across our value chain. The nature impact assessment provides a foundation for developing our work on nature and guides actions aimed at reducing and preventing adverse impacts and risks.
We assess nature‑related impacts and risks particularly from the perspectives of our own operations, raw material sourcing, production, and the wider supply chain. We recognize that risks to biodiversity are linked, among other factors, to land use, the use of natural resources, water use, and chemical management. You can read more about the assessment in our Sustainability Review.
Raw Materials and Production Perspective
Nature‑related impacts are closely linked to the materials we use and their origin. We continue to develop our material choices from a sustainability perspective and aim to increase understanding of the impacts of raw materials on the environment and biodiversity as part of product design and sourcing. In production, we consider nature‑related aspects in cooperation with our suppliers, for example through requirements and monitoring related to production practices, chemical management, and the use of resources.
Evolving Work and Continuous Learning
Our work related to nature and biodiversity is an evolving area. We follow changes in the operating environment, regulatory developments, and emerging practices, and develop our approach step by step as part of sustainability governance and development work aligned with our sustainability strategy. Our aim is to deepen our understanding of our activities’ impacts on nature and to promote practices that support the preservation of biodiversity over the long term.
