NORDIC SPORTSWEAR SINCE 1950
It all began in 1950, with a seed of an idea planted in the Finnish coastal town of Kokkola. Roger “Rukka” Störling didn't just start a company, he set the stage for a vision that would grow this seed into a firmly rooted tree.
Two years later, a long motorcycle ride to the Helsinki Olympics left him drenched in rain and inspired by an opportunity.
Partnering with designer Gunborg Lehmus, Störling turned that moment into the product we all know – the legendary Lehmus raincoat – an icon built for the elements. One yellow raincoat laid the foundation for something far greater than anyone imagined. And the rest is future.

Weather resistance is ensured by the use of GORE-TEX® and our own A.W.S (Active Wear System) grading, describing the technical level and weatherproofing properties of the product.

Today, Rukka is much more than raincoats, and our products are sold in over 30 countries. We're constantly striving to improve our product range and quality, and our aims are set high for the future.
Our approach is to design and create products that last both in terms of quality and design. Our sustainability work is based on a strategic policy to develop the company’s operations in a sustainable way, taking into account both the economy and the surrounding society and environment. Rukka is part of the Luhta Sportswear Company, which is one of the largest clothing manufacturers in the Nordic countries. Our headquarters are in Lahti, a city of sports in Finland, also known for its hilly surroundings and numerous lakes. Here we have the product design and development departments, along with the sales and marketing operations of Rukka.
