Polyester and recycled polyester r-PET

Traditional polyester is a synthetic fibre (PES) made from oil-based polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Polyester is added to textiles because it is strong, wrinkle-resistant, soft, flexible and water-repellent. It is also highly resistant to abrasion.

In the Luhta Home products, we aim to use recycled polyester (r-PET), the majority of which is used for the wadding of pillows and bedspreads, as well as material for rugs and baskets. r-PET is usually made from recycled plastic bottles and the material is 100% recycled. If necessary, products made of r-PET can be combined with cotton to give the products a pleasant feel. For r-PET products (e.g. baskets, rugs and tablemats), vacuuming is often enough, if necessary, stains can be wiped with a damp cloth or sponge.

Bed linen

We recommend to wash the bed linen before use. Follow washing instructions in the product and wash linen with the same color of textiles. Use a detergent for colored sheets without any bleach to keep the colors brighter longer. When washing linen, you can use rinses which softens and makes the sheets easier to wash. Do not put the machine too full for the sheets to crumble.

Linen can be dried both in the tumble dryer and outside in the string. In sunny weather, the linen should be turned inside out so that the sun does not change the colors. Ironing make the sheets soft and smooth and the fabric surface becomes dense and dirt-repellent, allowing you to extend the wash and wash times. Satin may lose its gloss, but the gloss may be restored by ironing or maintaining the product.
